WHAT TO DO IN VALLADOLID?
More information
Academia de Caballería
Inspired by Renaissance palaces, this museum combines granite and sandstone from Salamanca. It houses an exhibition of weaponry, 16th-century uniforms, banners, sculptures, and photographs. Among the exhibited pieces is an Enigma machine, which was used to encrypt and decrypt messages during World War II.
Town Square
After the 1561 fire, the market square became the first regular town square in Spain. It served as the model for the squares in Madrid and Salamanca. The brick tone of the buildings indicates the height of the buildings in the original town square, while floors exceeding that height are painted a different colour.
